JAMB sets 150 as minimum score for university admission in 2025/26

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has approved 150 as the lowest mark candidates can score and gain admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This benchmark, announced by JAMB, applies across all universities in the country. The decision means that any student who scores below 150 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination will not qualify for university admission, regardless of how well they performed in their secondary school certificate exams.

The 150-point threshold serves as a baseline for all institutions. Individual universities may set their own cut-off marks higher than this minimum, depending on their admission policies and programme demand.

For prospective students preparing for the 2025/2026 admission cycle, the announcement provides clarity on what they must achieve in JAMB to be in contention for a university place. The board typically reviews these benchmarks annually based on the quality of candidates, examination performance trends, and institutional capacity.
