Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president has revealed the most powerful hero currently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Feige made the reveal in a question and answer session with New York Film Academy, confirming that Wanda Maximoff (a.k.a. Scarlet Witch) is the most powerful.
Played by Elizabeth Olsen, Wanda debuted in the MCU in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and she is the twin sister of Pietro Maximoff a.k.a. Quicksilver (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) who died in the final confrontation with Ultron.
The abilities of the siblings came from the being experimented upon by Baron Strucker and the final moments of Age of Ultron saw Wanda become a full-fledged Avenger.
She went on to prove her worth fighting beside earth’s mightiest heroes and will reportedly star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
In a panel hosted by New York Film Academy, a member of the audience asked Feige who the “strongest Marvel hero” is and he said:
If you look at Endgame, Wanda Maximoff was going to kill Thanos. If he hadn’t desperately — that’s as scared as I’ve ever seen Thanos. And if he hadn’t said, ‘Decimate my entire team to get her off of me,’ I think she would’ve done it.
Feige had made similar comments before at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 where he stated that Wanda would beat Thanos one-on-one.
Wanda will continue to feature prominently in the MCU in an upcoming television series titled WandaVision which will premiere on Disney + in Spring 2021.
