After consistently having highest numbers of recent coronavirus cases in the country, Lagos State has recorded a sharp drop on Saturday, with 33 new cases.
Figures released by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) show that Nigeria confirmed 87 new cases, with Lagos having the highest number of 33.
On Friday, the state got its highest COVID-19 infection figures (80) since the pandemic hit the nation.
Lagos has consistently experienced increase in coronavirus infections, ramping up the cases to 291.
The 33 confirmed cases on Saturday shows that the state may have reached its peak in flattening the curve and may now continue to record fewer numbers of infections.
Lagos State now has 689 COVID-19 cases, more than half the national figures which stand at 1,182.
Six coronavirus patients were also discharged yesterday, bringing the total number of those discharged so far to 123.
