A 42-year-old woman, Olusayo Fagbemi, has been hacked to death in Sasa, Ojoo area in Akinyele Local Government, Oyo State.
According to reports, the gruesome killed was perpetrated by unknown assailants while the victim was washing some clothes.
Fagbemi’s demise marks the fifth case of murder in the area in the past month.
A resident who pleaded anonymity revealed that the community suspects that the incessant killings to be the work of ritualists in the local government area.
Another resident who gave his name as Kolawale decried the frequent killings and called on the state government to intervene urgently.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the unfortunate incident, saying an investigation into the matter had commenced.
“The woman was hit with something on the head and Ojo Police Division is on the matter”, he said.
Similarly, another woman, Azeezat Shomuyiwa, was found dead in her apartment at Aba Ijefun area of Akinyele on June 5, 2020. She was seven months pregnant and was said to have been murdered by unknown persons.
Azeezat’s murder occurred a week after 18-year-old Barakat Bello, a student of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production, Ibadan, was raped and killed in her home in the same area.
Also, a 21-year-old female student of Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Grace Oshiagwu, was murdered on June 13, 2020, while another five-year-old boy named Mujeeb Tirimisiyu was hacked to death on Monday.
