Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday arrived in Ekiti ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled to hold on Saturday.
Tinubu would be joined by APC chairman Abdullahi Adamu, APC governors, and other party stakeholders.
It would be the first public political campaign of Mr Tinubu after his emergence as the APC presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
The visit is amidst last-minute electioneering by political parties and their candidates.
INEC fixed June 16 (Thursday) as the last day for campaigns by political parties ahead of the Ekiti governorship election.
Sixteen political parties are set to participate in the June 18 poll. The political parties include A, AAC, ADC, ADP, APC, APGA, APM, APP, LP, NNPP, and NRM. Others are PDP, PRP, SDP, YPP, and ZLP.
The Ekiti governorship election might likely be a two-horse race between Mr Oyebanji of APC and Olabisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic. However, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) may be a third force.
The trio will slug it out to determine who will succeed Governor Kayode Fayemi.
