American comedian, television host, and actress Ellen DeGeneres will be given the Carol Burnett Award at the 2020 Golden Globes Awards which will take place on the 5th of January, 2020.
The Carol Burnett Award was named after its first recipient, Carol Burnett, and is presented annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to television or the screen.
In a statement, Lorenzo Soria, the President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), said DeGeneres’ charm and wit were undeniable and that she had captivated audiences for almost 25 years.
From her sitcoms to stand-up, to becoming a household staple on daytime television, she is a pioneer who has captivated audiences for nearly 25 years with her undeniable charm and wit. In addition to her television success, she’s an advocate and philanthropist, lending her voice to those who don’t have one and spreading kindness and joy through the power of her platform. We look forward to celebrating her achievements at this year’s ceremony.

As an actress, DeGeneres has featured in movies like Mr. Wong (1996), The Love Letter (1999), and lent her voice to the character of Dory in the animated films Finding Nemo (2003) and Finding Dory (2016).
