20 people in Yola, Adamawa have been reportedly crushed to death on Vinikling bridge (Hayin Gada) by a trailer loaded with farm products chased by the police.
According to reports, the driver of the trailer had been chased by police officers after refusing to give them money, some residents of the community had also told the police that the driver had been chased for carrying goods suspected to be foreign rice.
One of the residents, Salisu Ibrahim,a student of Modibo Adama University who had escaped being crushed by the truck said that the truck had been coming with speed and that a police van had been pursuing it.
“I did not know what happened, but we suddenly saw the truck coming with speed and police van was pursuing it . All of us in our Keke Napep jumped out and fled, the driver lost control and the truck began to hit other Keke Napep and crushing people before our very own eyes. It was horrific” Ibrahim said.
