The largest 5G network in the world has been launched by China’s three state mobile operators.
The historic achievement has been hailed as a “watershed” moment for mobile technology and with more than a billion active subscribers, China is the world’s biggest mobile market.
5G development has gotten strong support from Huawei and the Chinese government, with Operators also needing the additional capacity to cope with the rising demand for data.
This is the first time China will have a leading role in this generation of mobile technology and the launch had not been expected until next year, long after the US, South Korea, and the UK.
Major cities like Shanghai and Beijing already have coverage and it is expected that more than 50,000 base stations will also have the same before the year runs out.
