The Batman star Robert Pattinson has said that he doesn’t believe that the Caped Crusader is a superhero.
Pattinson is the next actor to play DC’s Dark Knight after Ben Affleck and his casting came with a lot of controversies. He will portray a younger version of Bruce Wayne/Batman and he revealed his thoughts on the character in an interview, hinting at Batman’s not having superpowers as the reason for his comments.
Batman’s not a superhero (laughs)… It’s weird, I always balk at it. I’m like, ‘It doesn’t count, you need to have like magical powers to be a superhero… Batman’s not a hero, though. He’s a complicated character. I don’t think I could ever play a real hero – there’s always got to be something a little bit wrong.Robert Pattinson – movieweb.com
Fans (especially those who kicked against his casting choice) will not be pleased by his words, but that doesn’t mean that the actor is far from the truth. Superheroes are called that as a result of the superior abilities they have. These abilities are beyond those of the average human and are used for the greater good. We all know that Batman doesn’t possess any superpowers; he makes use of his intellect and hi-tech gadgets for crime-fighting.
Well, the issue is open to debate, and those interested will have a field day arguing over the subject. But in the meantime, news of the filming schedule for The Batman is yet to surface. When it does, you’ll be the first to know.
