Following Punch newspaper’s declaration that it would use the prefix ‘major General’ before Muhammadu Buhari’s name in all its publications, other news platforms have decided to tow the path.
Odunews.com had earlier reported that Punch newspaper in an editorial it released noted that it would henceforth regard the president as ‘Major General Muhammadu Buhari’.
This has however generated different reactions after which the presidency released a statement to condemn PUNCH’s stand.
Online news platform Signalng on its official twitter handle said
NOTICE | As a show of protest for the consistent disregard for the rule of law and clampdown on freedom of expression in #Nigeria, we shall henceforth address President Muhammadu @MBuhari with the prefix: ‘Dictator’ in all our publications.
