The Abia state chapter of the All Progressives Congress described the verdict of the Lagos state High Court in convicting ex-Abia state governor, Orji Uzor Kalu as ‘unfair’.
Chairman of APC in Abia State, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, said the ruling was an “arranged court judgment” against Kalu, who was a former governor of the state.
Addressing journalists yesterday after the ruling, Nwankpa said the state chapter of the party would meet to decide its next step.
He said; “The party will meet to take a position on the judgment but as an individual, I am very saddened by the judgment.
“I am not convinced that judgment was given.”
Stressing that he never had confidence that Kalu would get judgment, Nwankpa said: “considering the utterances of the judge, I’m highly convinced that something went wrong. The judgment is not fair.”
Recall that the federal high court in Lagos convicted the Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, on 39 counts charges of N7.2 billion fraud and money laundering
Odunews.com also reported that Kalu’s lawyer faulted the judge’s ruling and stated that the judgement would be followed to the Appeal and Supreme court.
