South Korean boy band BTS recently launched their new single Black Swan and the numbers on several Billboard charts have confirmed that it is now the second bestselling track in the United States.
The song which was released just over a week ago previews their upcoming album titled Map of the Soul: 7 which is scheduled to drop in February and according to data provided by Nielsen Music, Black Swan sold enough copies to make it the second bestselling song in the country.
With over 24,000 copies sold, Black Swan comes in behind the Jonas Brothers’ new single What A Man Gotta Do which occupies the top spot with over 42,000 copies purchased.
BTS made their first Grammys appearance as presenters in 2019 and this year they performed alongside rapper Lil Nas X. The performance made history as it was the first time a Korean group performed at the American awards show.
Comprising of seven members, BTS (also known as Bangtan Boys) was formed in 2010 in Seoul. Originally a hip hop group, their style has evolved over the years to include other genres.
They released their debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool in 2013 and Wings (their third album) sold one million copies in South Korea.
By 2017, BTS had crossed the international music market, leading the Korean Wave into the United States and breaking numerous sales records, becoming the first Korean group to be certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for their single Mic Drop.
