ABC has ordered a pilot for an upcoming television series centered on the brides of Dracula.
Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has been developing a show based on Dracula’s wives and now ABC Studios have given the green light on the project.
Billed as a “sexy contemporary reimagining” of Bram Stoker’s book Dracula, the series has been described as a family drama with strong horror elements.
It will tell the story of a trio of empowered, immortal women and the things they do to hold on to their wealth, prestige and legacy.
The upcoming series comes from the stables of Warner Bros. with the ordered pilot written by Aguirre-Sacasa. It is directed by Maggie Kiley who will also executive produce alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
Fans have been showered a lot of vampire movies and shows over the years and may not be so keen on seeing another about Dracula’s brides. Nevertheless, the upcoming project could prove to be a welcome distraction for many.
