Today, January 22, 2020 is the deadline to file a claim if you were impacted by the Equifax data breach. The company agreed to a $700 million settlement for the breach that exposed the personal information of 147 million Americans.
If you file a claim, you can get free credit monitoring or a payment of up to $125. However, the payout might not be as big as expected. Experts say it may end up being closer to $7 because the more people that apply, the smaller the pot gets.

Equifax denies any wrongdoing. However, the settlement was given final approval earlier this month.
