American comedian Melissa McCarthy has joined the cast of Hulu’s limited series Nine Perfect Strangers.
The upcoming series will be available on the streaming platform and comes from David E. Kelley based on the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty.
Odu News learned that McCarthy will star opposite fellow actress Nicole Kidman (Aquaman) in the project which marks the third collaboration between Kidman, Kelley, and producer Bruna Papandrea who all worked together on Big Little Lies and The Undoing (the latter is currently in development at HBO).
Nine Perfect Strangers is set in a boutique health-and-wellness resort that offers transformation and healing to nine urban dwellers.
Kidman will play the resort’s director Masha while McCarthy will portray Francis, one of the “perfect” strangers. McCarthy will also serve as an executive producer.
Melissa Ann McCarthy was born on August 26, 1970, and is an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and fashion designer.
She gained critical acclaim for her performance in the comedy film Bridesmaids (2011) and got an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
McCarthy is a recipient of two Primetime Emmy Awards and her films include Identity Thief (2013), The Heat (2013), Tammy (2014), and The Boss (2016).
She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2015.
