The Continental, a spinoff series based on the hit John Wick films is scheduled to air on Starz after the arrival of the fourth movie in the franchise.
The project was given the green light last year and Deadline reports that Starz President and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch recently revealed at the Television Critics Association (TCA) event that the series will come on the heels of John Wick 4 which has a release date of May 2021.
All we know right now is The Continental is based on the hotel from the movies and it isn’t known whether Keanu Reeves (who plays the highly-skilled assassin) will appear.
OduNews can authoritatively state that the series will explore the origin of the hotel and though Lance Reddick (who portrays Charon, the hotel receptionist) is open to returning, Ian McShane (Winston) has declared that he won’t be a part of the series.
Starz President Hirsch stated that the reason for the series coming after the fourth film was so that the show doesn’t affect the results of the film. He also expressed confidence in the writers penning the series as he has had a pitch meeting with them for the pilot.
John Wick 4 is being worked on currently by Lionsgate and Reeves is returning in the lead role alongside McShane, Reddick and Laurence Fishburne.
