Ari Shaffir, an American comedian, actor, and writer, has been dropped from his job over insensitive comments on the death of former basketball player Kobe Bryant.
Reacting to the news of Kobe Bryant’s demise, Shaffir posted a video where he was seen making the following comments:
Kobe Bryant died 23 years too late today. He got away with rape because all the Hollywood liberals who attack comedy enjoy rooting for the Lakers more than they dislike rape. Big ups to the hero who forgot to gas up his chopper. I hate the Lakers. What a great day! #F***thelakers.
The comedian then tried to undo his deed by alleging that he was hacked, saying that every time a celebrity dies, he posts horrible stuff about them online.
He then tried to make it all go away by saying that it was a joke and that he didn’t really hate any of the people.

Shaffir was dropped by his talent agency, Aqua Talent Agency, and fans who were angered by his comments have been calling in bomb threats at comedy clubs where he is scheduled to perform.
Kobe Bryant was charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old girl in 2003 but there was no clear resolution resulting in a case where no verdict was given.
The case was dropped by the prosecutors just before it was scheduled to go to trial, citing the accuser’s unwillingness to testify.
