The trailer for Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 is here and fans of the popular manga series will be awestruck by the amazing action and mayhem.
Netflix acquired the rights back in 2018 and Shinji Aramaki was announced to be the director of the series alongside Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex).
Taking place in a cyberpunk world where humans and machines have become bonded together, the upcoming series takes inspiration from the original manga in 1989 and comes following numerous movies (most notably the Matrix franchise) having taken influences from the source material.
A live-action 2017 film was made and it starred Scarlet Johansson as the lead female but it seems that didn’t the response that the producers hoped for.
The official trailer for the series brings back the franchise’s most remarkable characters – Kusanagi, Daisuke Aramaki, Batou, and the lovable Tachikoma robots.
A plot description which was released with the trailer reads:
In the year 2045, the world has entered a systematic “Sustainable War.” Hired as a mercenary unit, the former members of Japan’s elite Section 9 are faced with the sudden appearance of “Post-Human,” a being with tremendous intelligence and physical capabilities.
The clip shows the 3DCG animation and the hard-hitting action that has become a trademark of the franchise. Animation fans are in for a treat but still have a few months to wait as Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 will be released in April 2020.
