Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy who was nominated for Grammy award lost it to Beninese popular singer Angélique Kidjo on January 26, 2020.
The legend who is noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos and her musical influences which include Afropop, Caribbean zouk, Congolese rumba, jazz, gospel dedicated the award to it to Burna Boy, saying he is among the young artists changing the way African music has been.
However, some Nigerians are not surprised because they believe the legend was no match for Burna Boy, while a few say Burna was cheated and deserved the award.
The comparison between the two and criticism led to an online debate as other fans find annoying what people said in the process of baring their minds.
Perhaps most notable among them is a Twitter user who said, “I am surprised you all thought Burna would win. Angelique Kidjo is a legend.”
Another said: “As they know she is truly a legend, and it is not about judging legend status. If it was, Fela will win it with every album and Burna Boy Is really hard-working and finds it a privilege to be in the same category in the grammies”

Concerning Angelique kidjo, she's a living legend. Here is one of her songs. Notice something?.. This is where Burna boy got the rhythm for his "Anybody" song pic.twitter.com/379foYB7VE

Winning the Grammy has nothing to do with your legendary status. If so, Michael Jackson would have won the highest number of Grammys. The votes may not go in his favor this year, but I will definitely be in his favor in the nearest future.

Burna Boy Is really hard-working and privileged to be in the same category in the grammies, comparing both of them na serious naivety be that,if u really want to do a comparison with that woman na either Fela Anikulapo or King Sunny Ade be her set for Nigeria musicians.

You guys are just saying what the Grammys have always been doing… Giving their favourites… the fact she is a legend does not mean she had a better body of work than burna… the award is for world music album of the year not based on you legendary status
