Binti, the critically acclaimed novel from Nigerian-American writer Nnedi Okorafor, has been developed as a series on Hulu.
Set in a technologically and socially advanced future, the book tells the story of a brilliant and rebellious young woman who leaves her community behind when she is admitted into a prestigious space academy.
Binti won both the Hugo and Nebula awards for Best Novella and the script for the series is being penned by Okorafor and Stacy Osei-Kuffour (the latter wrote for The Morning Show and Watchmen).
According to Hollywood Reporter, the three-part novella will be adapted for the screen via the studio Media Res and will premiere on Hulu.
Nnedimma Nkemdili “Nnedi” Okorafor is an author who is known for writing fantasy and science fiction books for both children and adults.
Her most popular books include Binti, Who Fears Death, Zahrah the Windseeker, Akata Witch, and Lagoon. She was named the African Literary Person of the Year by Brittle Paper in 2015.
