A family of five and their dog have been found dead in their North Carolina home.
Craven County sheriff’s investigators found the victims Friday in Vanceboro, about 114 miles southeast of Raleigh.
Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes, speaking to WCTI, identified the couple as Michael Jay and April Ireland, and said that the ages of the children are 8 months, 3 and 4 years old.
Additional information will be released Monday after the conclusion of autopsies, according to Thomas.
The Sheriff’s Office told WCTI that this is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the community.
Neighbors, who declined to be identified, stated the couple had two young sons and an infant girl.
Investigators arrived Friday, when they discovered the bodies. The dog, pit-bull, was also dead.

“It was a really nice dog,” according to a neighbor, “we really do not understand the cause of their death. It is still a shock to many of us.
