Following his recent rape conviction, embattled Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein stands a chance of losing his royal honor.
Reports have confirmed that after the movie mogul’s conviction, members of the public have asked that he be stripped of his CBE title.
It has also been disclosed that the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is supporting the suggestion to remove Weinstein’s royal honor.
Queen Elizabeth had awarded the 67-year-old the title of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire back in 2004 due to his contributions to films in the country. The honor is the second highest, next only to that of a Knighthood.
In a formal request written by Labour MP Chi Onwurah, it was stated that Weinstein is no longer known for contributions to the movie industry, but for abuse of power and sexual assault.
