Jay Z has made things clear on his reason for seating after it seemed that all of America was angry at him and his wife, Beyoncé.
The couple along with their daughter Blue Ivy remained seated during the national anthem performance at Super Bowl LIV.
This got a lot of fans angry as they remained seated during Demi Lovato‘s performance of the USA national anthem at the same event.
Jay-Z addressed the matter while speaking in front of a classroom of students at Columbia University on 4 February saying;
“It actually wasn’t. Sorry. It really wasn’t… It was not premeditated at all.”
The rapper further explained that he and his wife were in ‘artist’ mode, taking in things from the point of view of performers and that they were focused on matters related to the mic and speakers in use.
According to reports, the musician and his wife also focused more on how Demi looked and performed.
Jay-Z also said if they had planned a protest stunt, they would not have done it with their daughter, Blue Ivy, around.
“Demi comes out, and we’re talking about how beautiful she looked and how she sounded, and what she’s going through in her life for her to be on the stage and we’re so proud of her.”
