John Obi Mikel Faces Racial Abuse In Turkish Club

John Obi Mikel, a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Turkish club Trabzonspor has been racially abused as his Turkish club Trabzonspor beat Fenerbahce last weekend.

The player was silent but his team-mate, Joao Pereira, found it as something unacceptable and had to speak out for him saying it was sad and concluded by saying “Football is much bigger than the little people behind these unfortunate acts.”

According to the report, the player was sent abusive messages on his Instagram page, which included the use of the N-word and banana emojis.
