Mike Colter is set to join Hulu’s Monsterland, an upcoming horror anthology series.
Colter is best known for playing the eponymous character in Netflix’s television series Luke Cage, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Luke Cage was canceled on October 19, 2018, after its two-season run due to creative differences between Netflix and its writers.
The upcoming series is revealed to be “full of encounters with mermaids, fallen angels and other strange beasts” and the plot centers on broken people who are driven to extreme measures in an attempt to repair what is left of their lives. In the end, the events show that there is a fine line between man and monster.
Colter will play a character named Brian in an episode titled ‘Newark, New Jersey’ and will focus on him as a grief-stricken husband who puts the blame on himself after the disappearance of his daughter.
Torn by grief and despair, Brian clings stubbornly to the belief that she is not dead which leads to him being unable to move on with his life, making him emotionally detached from his wife.
Monsterland is based on the short stories from Nathan Ballingrud’s collection called North American Lake Monsters. The series is created by Mary Laws who also serves as a writer and executive producer.
