The value of equities declined by N154bn at the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Monday making trading activities remain volatile.
The market reported 17 losers and 17 gainers after the day’s transactions.
The NSE daily trading result for the day showed that market capitalisation of listed equities on Monday fell by 1.5 per cent to N14.464 trillion from N14.616 trillion reported on Friday.
The NSE All Share index also decreased by 294.90 points to 27772.19 points from 28067.09 traded on Friday.
Investors exchanged 200.155 million shares worth N1.922 billion in 3487 deals against 303.933 million shares valued at N6.385 billion in 4343 deals.
A review of transactions during the week showed that BUA Cement Plc led gainers table during the day, increasing by N0.60 kobo to close at N36.00, UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust followed with a gain of N0.20 kobo to close at N3.40 kobo, NPF Microfinance Bank added N0.11 kobo to close at N1.23 kobo, African Prudential Plc increased by N0.10 kobo to close at N4.60 kobo while Law Union and Rock Insurance gained N0.09 kobo to close at N1.20 kobo.
On the contrary, Nestle Nigeria PLC topped losers chart for the day, dropping by N138.00 to N1242.00, MTN Nigeria Communication trailed with a loss of N2.00 to close at N115.00, Lafarge Wapco down by N0.25 kobo to close at N15.05 kobo, Guaranty Trust Bank dropped by N0.20 kobo to close at N29.30 kobo, FBNHoldings sheds N0.15 kobo to close at N5.85 kobo.
The result further indicated that FBNHoldings was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 35.908 million shares valued at N212.055 million, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria followed with account of 24.625 million shares worth N23.575 million, Zenith Bank Plc sold a total of 18.571 million shares cost N369.052 million, UACN traded 14.163 million shares worth N12.220 million, Fidelity Bank exchanged 11.730 million shares worth N24.919 million.
