The country singer chooses to employ the pop genre in telling her message and it is this; she is sick of the male-centric world and has had enough of ‘them’ coming at her in the music industry because of her gender.
Using different real-life scenarios (which are exaggerated for a better effect), Taylor paints a vivid picture of what it’s like to be part of a world where you are on top because you are a man.
The individual she uses as a representation of the typical bossy alpha male does a stupendous job of showing how much of je*k he is, often stepping on toes in his everyday routine and not giving a hoot who is offended.
Success is the alpha male’s other name and he just revels in the attention that the power he wields brings to him. He has a lot of beautiful ladies at his beck and call; he is society’s favorite child.
Taylor isn’t one to shy away from sensitive topics as these, and the way she makes her point is commendable. Her visuals have never lacked for creativity and here, the transition between scenes is seamless and arresting.
