Emeka Rollas who is the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has defended the association’s decision to make controversial senator Elisha Abbo a patron of the guild.
The decision had attracted the anger of veteran Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo, who vehemently kicked against it, reminding members of the public how the lawmaker assaulted a nursing mother in a video last year.
Dokubo said that making an “abuser of women” a patron of AGN was an unpardonable abuse. Her colleague, movie star Kate Henshaw, also kicked against the move.
Defending the decision, AGN president Emeka Rollas disclosed that since the senator had already apologized for laying his hands on the woman, there was no need to bring up the issue.
Rollas added that those who were criticizing the move were not even actual members of the guild.
