Veteran Hollywood star max Von Sydow has died at the age of 90.
The late movie icon played the role of the ‘Three-Eyed Raven’ in the tenth episode of the fourth season of the highly-successful HBO series Game of Thrones and was also recognizable for his charismatic bad guy roles.
The actor’s passing was made known by his family who announced the development with “a broken heart and infinite sadness.”
Max Von Sydow was born Carl Adolf von Sydow on April 10, 1929. He was a Swedish actor who appeared in European and American movies.
He featured in over 100 films and television series, with his most memorable being Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal (1957). It saw his character play chess with Death.
Sydow also played Jesus Christ in George Steven’s The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965), and later appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
For his role in Game of Thrones, the thespian received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. He also got the Royal Foundation of Sweden’s Cultural Award (that was back in 1954).
Sydow earned two Academy Award nominations for his roles in Pelle the Conqueror (1987) and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011).
