Just when he thought his troubles couldn’t get worse, convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein has been dealt a cruel one as he has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.
Weinstein has been placed in quarantine at Wende Correctional Facility (a maximum-security prison east of Buffalo in New York).
The former Hollywood producer was moved from New York’s Rikers Island jail where he was serving a 23-year sentence, and the president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, Michael Powers, stated that he got to know that Weinstein’s test came back positive on Sunday.
Powers added that other members of the prison staff have also been put in self-isolation as well.
Imran Ansari, an attorney for Weinstein, said his legal team had not been informed of the coronavirus diagnosis, saying:
“Given Mr Weinstein’s state of health, we are of course concerned, if this is the case, and we are vigilantly monitoring the situation.”
