Britain’s Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced the arrival of his first child with his girlfriend, Carry Symonds.
The couple’s spokesperson said the baby was delivered in a London hospital on Wednesday morning.
“The Prime Minister and Ms Symonds are thrilled to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy at a London hospital earlier this morning. Both mother and baby are doing very well. The PM and Ms Symonds would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team,” the statement read.
Several British political figures including Rishi Sunak, chancellor of the Exchequer, and David Cameron, former British PM, have taken to social media platforms to congratulate the couple.
“Great to hear Downing Street is getting a new resident. Congratulations to @BorisJohnson and @carriesymonds on the birth of their son,” Sunak wrote.
