Comedian AY Makun has lamented the pitiable state of the poor masses in the country as they are forced to endure the hunger that has been their lot since the coronavirus lockdown.
Known for his comedy standup shows and his hilarious movie chatacters, AY had no trace of humour as he took to his Twitter page to comment on how the less privileged have suffered during these hard times.
He tweeted:
“All we keep hearing daily is ‘STAY AT HOME’. The rich wants the poor to stay home to avoid the spread of Covid-19, but HUNGER VIRUS won’t allow the poor to stay home.
We can only control d spread of d virus when the rich helps the poor by providing enough food to stay at home.”

The performer’s words are no doubt influenced by the lack of caution displayed by many Nigerians who have repeatedly flouted the lockdown order.
A lot of people who depend on daily hustle like selling foodstuff in the market are going about it as they usually do, ignoring the risk of contracting the coronavirus as they know that remaining indoors without finances will only mean hunger for them.
Even more unfortunate perhaps are reports that many of the security operatives put in place to check and prevent movement have resorted to collecting money from citizens.
President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to address the nation again soon to let Nigerians know of there will be an extension of the one-month lockdown.
