Facebook has introduced a new feature which allows people to be charged before joining a live video.
The tech giant announced that it is bringing back its ‘Live Chat With’ feature which allows two persons to participate in a video broadcast.
‘Live With’ is particularly useful for creators or celebrities who want to chat with professionals or fans respectively. It allows users to co-broadcast along with someone when they stream live to an audience.
Facebook is also making it easier for users to donate and raise money directly from their live videos. The development, according to the social media firm, was due to the surge in demand for video chats during the coronavirus pandemic.
The US based social media and technology company also noted that it is currently working on new initiatives that will also allow pages on the platform charge for their live events.
“On @facebookapp, we’re bringing back Live With and have made it easier to donate and raise money directly in Live. You’ll also be able to mark Facebook Events as online only and broadcast live to your guests. We’re also exploring ways for Pages to charge for Live events,” it wrote.
Facebook introduces Messenger Rooms which supports up to 50 people
In the same vein, Facebook also announced the introduction of ‘Messenger Rooms’, another feature that allows initiating group video calls and consequently share them with other social media networks such as Instagram and WhatsApp.
‘Messenger Rooms’ allows users invite up to 50 people, even those without Facebook accounts, to both public and private video chat rooms for free and with no time limit.
“Introducing Messenger Rooms, group video calls that you can start and share via @messenger, @facebookapp and soon @instagram, @whatsapp and @portalfacebook. We’re testing Rooms in a few countries now and plan to roll it out globally in the coming weeks,” it added.
“Messenger Rooms will hold up to 50 people with no time limit so you can drop in and spend time with friends, family and people who share your interests. You can discover Rooms from your Facebook friends, Groups and Events at the top of News Feed.”
