Chris Hemsworth is clearly excited to play the role of Hulk Hogan, one of the most iconic wrestlers in WWE history.
A year ago, it was announced that the Thor star would portray the larger-than-life in-ring character of Hulk Hogan, a man who for a long time was the face of WWF (as it was called then).
The biopic will focus on the rise of Hogan, telling the story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania. It will be directed by Todd Phillips (Joker) and written by Scott Silver.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Chris Hemsworth he was fascinated and intrigued to play the former legendary wrestler.
“Look, I haven’t read a script yet. I know it’s been written now and worked on. I know very little about that. It’s sort of in the process now. I’m just fascinated by that world and I think they are pretty keen to show a side of the world that people haven’t seen before. I’m as intrigued as you are.”
The idea of Hemsworth playing Hogan was pitched by none other than the former wrestler himself back in 2017, saying, “You know who I thought would be good? That guy that did that action movie, Thor.”
As it turned out, Hogan got his wish as Hemsworth was picked for the role.
It would be interesting to see the actor play the outspoken persona of Hogan and even though there may be a height deficiency (Hogan in his prime stood at about 6 foot 9 inches and Hemsworth is only 6 foot 3 inches tall), that should be easy to solve with some camera tricks.
