IPPIS: President Buhari Approves Payment Of Salaries Owed To Lecturers

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate payment of February and March salaries of lecturers in federal universities which have been withheld due to their refusal to enrol on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

President Buhari’s directive is aimed at cushioning the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown on lecturers

The information was made known in a statement made by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige via his media aide, Emmanuel Nzomiwu.

Ngige stated that President Buhari directed the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Planning, and the Accountant General of the Federation to effect the payment immediately in order to cushion the effects of COVID-19 lockdown on lecturers and their families.

The Minister also added that all Vice Chancellors were told to revalidate the effected lecturers Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) and forward them to the Accountant General of the Federation for the payments to be through.

All federal tertiary institutions have been directed by the federal government to enrol on the IPPIS.
