Netflix has renewed its first original African series Queen Sono for a second season.
Created by Kagiso Lediga, Queen Sono premiered on Netflix on February 28, 2020.
It stars Pearl Thusi as a female security operative who tackles criminal operations while trying to balance the demands of her job with her tumultuous private life.
On Tuesday April 28, 2020, Netflix announced that Thusi, Vuyo Dabula, Kate Liquorish and some of the main actors would reprise their roles for the second season.
Showrunner Lediga said:
“I’m so excited by the appetite for African stories and that Netflix is continuing to partner with us to bring to life the next chapter of Queen’s story and showcase it to the world.”
Queen Sono season two is expected to commence filming later this year.
