According to TMZ, the singer’s Clara Lionel Foundation and the Twitter boss announced yesterday, Thursday, April 9, 2020 that they were sending $4.2 million grant to the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles to help domestic violence abuse victims in the city.

Rihanna and Dorsey’s donation comes following reports that about 90 people are being turned away from domestic violence shelters in L.A. every week since the city declared a safer-at-home order last month.

The donation will cover housing, food and counselling for 90 victims per week for 10 weeks, and an additional 90 victims a week after that.

Domestic violence cases have surged globally since the coronavirus pandemic has forced families to remain indoors.

Earlier this week, Jack Dorsey had pledged a billion dollars (reportedly 28% of his wealth) to COVID-19 relief efforts.
