CNN anchor Chris Cuomo has recovered from the novel coronavirus.
Cuomo uploaded a video of himself climbing the stairs out of his basement on Monday April 21, 2020. He had isolated himself from his family when he was diagnosed with COVID-19.
“Alright, here it is,” he said as he emerged. “The official re-entry from the basement, cleared by the CDC.”
The CNN reporter revealed that for weeks he had been dreaming of the moment he would be reunited with his family.
He said that his wife had been cleared by the CDC and that she doesn’t have fever and all the other symptoms anymore. This is after more than seven days after her quarantine.
Cuomo approached his wife but she held up her hands to maintain a safe distance from her husband.
He then proceeded to engage in fist bumps family instead of hugs, saying ‘we’re still a little scared.”
Obviously overwhelmed and happy to be back in good health, Cuomo said:
“This is the dream. Just to be bad here doing normal things. I’m back. So let’s get after it.”
He thanked his children for helping take care of him and for stepping up when their parents were sick.
Speaking on his CNN show, Cuomo said that his wife Cristina’s speedy recovery showed that she was the stronger of the two of them.
“She’s out of quarantine, and she dealt with it in a fraction of the time so we are among the blessed”, he said.
Cuomo had disclosed his COVID-19 diagnosis on March 31, 2020 and had continued hosting his show from his basement in New York.
