Australian actor Chris Hemsworth has disclosed the reason for his choice of residing in his native country rather than in Hollywood.
The six foot three inches tall Aussie came into prominence for playing the hammer-wielding Asgardian superhero Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has ventured into other projects ever since, his latest being Netflix‘s Extraction.
Hemsworth is married to actress Elsa Pataky and they have three children; India (7) and six-year-old twins Sasha and Tristan.Explaining to PEOPLE magazine why he prefers the secluded lifestyle in Australia, Hemsworth said:
“There’s not a single person that I interact with, or close friends of mine that are really in the industry, and so that’s hugely refreshing. It’s great for my kids and my wife. When you’re suffocated by the work, every conversation that you’re having and every billboard that you’re seeing is to do with a movie or whatever around the industry, you lose perspective.
He also added that he was planning to take a break from from acting for the remainder of the year.
“I just want to stop for a while. I need to be home for a minute, just enjoy it. It all flies by.”
