The convoy of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai killed a bike rider, Alhaji Salisu, in Katsina state on Monday.
The victim who was reportedly sharing his wedding invitation died on the spot of the accident.
Speaking on the accident through his twitter handle, Nigerian journalist, Fisayo Soyombo, disclosed that the convoy abandoned the corpse of the deceased on the road and drove away.
“Roughly two hours after he was pronounced dead, the 17 Brigade Army unit eventually sent some representatives to the hospital to enquire about him, but they were referred to the police division handling the case”, he said
Buratai was at the Forward Operating Base, Daura, hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari, as part of efforts to combat banditry and ensure lasting peace and security in the state and the North-West region.
The Chief of Army Staff during a visit to Governor Aminu Bello Masari at the Government House said he will remain in Katsina State for sometime to coordinate and supervise operations in Rugu Forest and beyond.
He assured that the operations against the bandits will continue to rid the region of hoodlums.
