Hip hop veteran Snoop Dogg has shared that he will be voting in 2020, making it the first time in his life he is getting involved in the electoral process.
The rapper, who recently talked about the killing of George Floyd, police brutality, and the Black Lives Matter protests, has always shied away from voting owing to his criminal history.
Snoop revealed that he had been ‘brainwashed’ for many years into thinking that he couldn’t vote because of his criminal record.
He said that now that he knows better and with his record being expunged, he can now vote, referring to President Donald Trump as a ‘punk’ he couldn’t stand to see in office for one more year.
His words:
For many years, they had me brainwashed thinking that you couldn’t [vote] because you had a criminal record. I didn’t know that. My record’s been expunged, so now I can vote. I ain’t never voted a day in my life, but this year I think I’m gonna get out and vote cuz I can’t stand to see this punk in office one more year.”
