The family of Rayshard Brooks, the black American shot and killed by a white cop, are not happy about the emergence of fake GoFundMe pages soliciting donations on their behalf.
Brooks’ family wants the fake pages taken down immediately, and one of his cousins, Decatur Redd, spoke with TMZ, revealing that he and his relatives have spotted a lot of fraudulent pages recently.
Decatur says that the development is a frustrating nuisance to the family as they have only given their approval to one GoFundMe account.
TMZ reached out to GoFundMe and they said they were aware of the situation and are monitoring things as they keep an eye out for fake pages (some of which have been deleted already).
The report says that the legitimate page has amassed more than $105,000, an indication that the public is showing concern for the family.
Garrett Rolfe, the cop who shot and killed Brooks, will be charged with murder. Decatur says it’s up to the judge if he gets convicted.
