Obadiah Moyo, the Zimbabwean Health and Child Care Minister, has been arrested for alleged irregular purchase of $60 million coronavirus medical supplies.
Confirming the arrest yesterday, Friday, June 19, 2020, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission spokesperson, Commissioner John Makamure said in a statement:
I can confirm that Minister Moyo is currently detained at Rhodesville Police Station and will likely appear in court today.”
Makamure said the Minister was arrested over shady procurement deals to the tune of $60 million.
Moyo becomes the second minister to be arrested for alleged corruption in President Emmerson Mnangagwa‘s administration.
In 2019, the then Minister of Tourism, Prisca Mupfumira had also been apprehended.
