The committee also summoned the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Prof. Kemebrandikumo Pondei.

Recall that the NDDC MD, walked out of the meeting with the lawmakers on Thursday after he accused the committee chairman, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, of corruption.

During the committee’s meeting on Friday, former Managing Director of the NDDC made damning allegations against the Niger Delta Minister, Godswill Akpabio.

Mrs Nunieh alleged that Mr Akpabio attempted to inflate the NDDC budget during her reign as Managing Director.

She had earlier made similar allegations during an interview on Arise TV.

Mrs Nunieh said Mr Akpabio ordered her to include some projects from the refugee commission in the budget of the NDDC.

She said: “Akpabio wrote me to put a list of projects from the refugee commission in the budget of NDDC. Refugee commission is another federal government commission for IDPs.

“How do you tell me to put some of their projects in the NDDC budget when we have so many things to do in the Niger Delta? How do you explain that?”
