President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide, Bashir Ahmed, has reacted to the comments made by former Minister of Petroleum Resources Alison Madueke on the menace of internet fraudsters ‘Yahoo boys’ in the country.
Odunews.com had earlier reported that the former minister who has been declared wanted for corruption said that internet fraudsters are becoming role models in the country.
Reacting to the comment made by Madueke, Bashir urged Nigerians to take the message and ignore the messanger.
“Diezani on Yahoo Boys; great message, so take the message and leave the messenger, since the message ≠the messenger!” tweet by Ahmad read.
Diezani in the viral video warned that the new trend ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’ is a travesty of an unfolding tragedy for Nigeria, adding that only hard work could guarantee success.
The former minister issued the warning while delivering a lecture at a virtual event organized by the Ijaw National Development Group.
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in November 2018 filed a 13 count charge of money laundering accusing Diezani of unlawfully taking into her possession, the sums of $39.7m (about N14.29bn) and N3.32bn when she reasonably ought to have known that the money formed part of the proceeds of unlawful activities.
