The Police Command in Enugu State says 4 persons have been confirmed dead during safety agencies and members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ‘clash’ Yesterday in Enugu.
Mr. Ahmed Abdurrahman, Commissioner of Police, while Briefing newsmen concerning the ugly incident on Sunday, stated that police apprehended 5 IPOB members involved in the aforesaid ‘clash’, which began in the early hours of Sunday.
The CP, in what he described as “civil unrest” attributable to the chaos, disrupted both human and vehicular activities for hours within the Enugu-Abakaliki Road specifically throughout the Emene neighborhood within the outskirt of Enugu town.
He stated that the Department of State Security (DSS) went on a covert operation in a particular location in Emene early Sunday morning; however, they were overpowered and two of their officers kidnapped by the IPOB members
According to him, the DSS have to call in the police for their rescue; and the police have to call in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force to defeat the escalating mayhem rapidly.
He maintained that many arrests have been made in association with the ‘violence, quickly the culprits shall be made to face the law.
However, the Leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) refutes media claim that the incident was a ‘Clash’ but an attack on its members.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who reacted in a series of tweets on Monday referred to the Nigerian media outlets as ‘evil and wicked.
