The Trump campaign has spent recent weeks in Arizona trying to keep the new battleground state from choosing a Democrat for president for the first time since 1996.
Kyrsten Sinema’s 2018 Senate win against Martha McSally, a Republican, showed that a certain kind of centrist Democrat could triumph in conservative Arizona. Now Mark Kelly, a Democrat, has repeated that victory against Ms. McSally, who was appointed to the Senate seat held by John McCain. Ms. McSally has consistently polled behind Mr. Trump, who won Arizona in 2016 but who has underperformed in polls against Joseph R. Biden Jr.

In the Sixth Congressional District, Representative David Schweikert, a Republican incumbent dragged down by ethics violations, faces a tough challenge from Hiral Tipirneni, a Democrat and a doctor. And control of the State Legislature is up for grabs. Voters also passed recreational marijuana legalization — which failed narrowly in 2016 — and were set to decide on an education tax.
