The race for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos state witnessed a twist on Thursday as Wale Oluwo, a former commissioner under the state’s ex-governor Akinwunmi Ambode, submitted his governorship form to challenge incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Oluwo submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the party on Wednesday at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
The former commissioner who served as the chairman of the Akinwunmi Ambode Campaign Organisation vowed to defeat the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the APC governorship primary election later this month.
So far, only two aspirants have submitted the party’s governorship forms in Lagos — Sanwo-Olu and Oluwo.
The Governor’s Advisory Council, the highest decision-making organ of the party headed by APC national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had mid-April endorsed Sanwo-Olu for second term in 2023.
