Mr Emefiele met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday at the villa where he disclosed that he will not be contesting in presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress.

According to a report by BUSINESS DAY, Mr Emefiele withdrew from the race to continue his work as CBN governor.

“CBN Governor has withdrawn from the presidential race and has communicated his intention to continue as CBN Governor,” a source told BUSINESS DAY.

Recall that the CBN governor also purchased the presidential nomination form and which has since stirred lots of reactions from Nigerians.

Three interest groups – the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, Friends of Emefiele and Emefiele Support Group – last week paid N100m for the APC presidential expression of interest and nominations forms for Emefiele.

Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, was among the vocal voice who condemned the CBN governor’s intention to run.

Odunews.com also reported how Mr Emefiele had been a registered member of the ruling party in Delta state since 2021.
