Enugu state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has been declared the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party Senatorial primary in Enugu north.
Ugwuanyi was announced as the winner of the election on Tuesday at the Nsukka Township stadium.
The exercise was conducted by the PDP National Election Committee led by Mr. Attahiru Ochie and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Governor Ugwuanyi polled 299 votes out of the available 316 votes cast by delegates.
Mr. Godwin Eze came a distant second with 16 votes, while another aspirant, Mr. Celestine Okanya got zero vote, same as Godsmack Ugwu.
The incumbent Senator from the zone, Chukwuka Utazi did not purchase form for the primary election.
Utazi had earlier announced that he won’t seek re-election as a mark of honour for Governor Ugwuanyi.
